A second ant infestation is occurring at our house. Last week when we came home from the beach there was a trail of them leading to the cat food and then some had discovered the trash. Matt poisoned the area where they were coming into the house from the outside (yep, we have an old house) and we bought some stuff to fill the gaps between the siding and brick. Today I discovered another trail, going to the cat food once again. They are entering at the same point on the inside of the house, but have apparently found another way to that point from the outside that we haven't found yet. So Matt is vacuuming them up and will have to go buy more poison to put outside to try to discourage them. It's really odd because we haven't ever had problems with this until now. You'd think the same thing would have happened last summer!

i hate ants! i once had a huge ant infestation in my apartment because someone married to me forgot to take out the trash. i seriously dumped bleach all over everything in attempt to rid my life of the little buggers. like 4 gallons of it.
ReplyDeletewe use home defense, you spray it around the inside and outside of your home, it is safe for pets and people after it dries and it keeps them out, except for in the mail box, did you see my posting about that!
ReplyDeleteI HATE ants. We had major problems with them one year at our old house. We tried EVERYTHING to get rid of them. Have y'all had a lot of rain? I know that they are always worse here when there has been a lot of rain.
ReplyDeleteWe get ants, too. We use Terro to get rid of them! Definitely something you want to keep out of reach of the kitties if you use it.
