14 Weeks & 3rd appointment

So today I'm 14 weeks! My baby is the size of a lemon (I thought lemons were smaller than peaches...I feel like my baby has shrunk. I don't know what kind of peaches the people who make these size charts up are eating...or maybe they eat giant lemons...) and is moving around a lot, but I can't feel it now. I guess that's something to look forward to in the coming weeks! I'm still not showing, as a matter of fact, I think my "bump" got smaller! lol Maybe because my baby went from the size of a real peach to a lemon. I was probably still bloated the past few weeks but thought I wasn't. I can still fit into my jeans. I can button them, but it's very, very uncomfortable if I sit down or bend over! I still wear the belly band, but lately I've taken to looping a pony tail holder around the button and through the button hole to hold the button together. It still gives me some extra room, but I don't have to wear that tight belly band. It feels just like normal!

I had my third prenatal appointment today. Everything is going great! I heard the heartbeat again!! :-) She found it no problem and it was so loud and strong sounding! Much clearer and louder than last time (when I was 10 weeks). Darn, I just realized I forgot to ask what the heart rate was. I was so distracted by the wonder of it and Matt and I were both amazed that it was so much louder and clearer that that was what we were talking about right after. We've seen a different midwife each time, but I think I liked this weeks the best so far. We still have to meet one or two more and then I will start requesting to see my favorite and request her for delivery. Obviously if she isn't available I will have one of the others deliver, but at least I get a first choice.

They took a urine sample and I could.not.pee. It was so awful, trying to go when I couldn't and knowing they were waiting on me out there. I managed to get a little bit out and that was enough for the nurse to do whatever she needed to do thankfully! They didn't take a sample last time, now I know that I should drink more on the mornings I have appointments. I gained 2 pounds since my last appointment, which makes my weight gain so far...2 pounds. The nurse seemed to think that was great, the midwife didn't comment on it and I didn't think to ask.

My BIG ultrasound has been scheduled for April 8! Right now it's scheduled for early in the morning and they have me scheduled to see a male doctor afterwards to go over it. However, I'm going to call and reschedule it later so that I can see a midwife after. If I went in at 7:30 in the morning I could see a midwife, but the 8:30 slot had to go with a doctor. I think we'll just do it later in the morning or even in the afternoon. I don't want to see a doctor, especially a man. That's the reason I'm seeing the midwives at this practice!! I just didn't think to protest when the receptionist scheduled us for that slot (I refused the 7:30 slot...way too early for me, especially if I still have insomnia at that point!). But anyway, it will be on April 8 at some point during the day!!! I'm so excited!!! I'll be 18 weeks exactly then, but the midwife said that will be fine since I'm a little smaller, apparently that makes it easier to see the baby or something. So I'm putting a poll up. Do you think I'm going to have a boy or a girl? vote!

I have to admit, I've been getting some girl vibes. It's not a super strong feeling though. So I won't be surprised if it's a boy, but I'm definitely starting to feel more and more that the baby is a girl. I don't know why, it's just a feeling.

Yesterday I went to Old Navy and actually bought clothes!! I tried to buy things that will work when I start showing too. However, I was disappointed that one of the t-shirts shrank so much that although it fits now, it won't work when I get really big. But I did buy another shirt that is way cute and is baggy and stretchy, so I should be able to wear that over the summer! And I found several other clothes that I will get a little later. They are too baggy for me now, but will fit excellently when I start getting bigger. They also have such a cute maternity section there! I saw the prettiest dress that will fit me now but has a drawstring around the waist so I can also wear it when I have a huge baby bump. :-) But I'm going to wait to see if it goes on sale. I couldn't tell a difference between their maternity tanks and tees and the regular ones. I even compared the tanks. So I just bought regular ones, only $5 each!!

It's still absolutely beautiful weather here. It's supposed to get up to 80 degrees again today! Matt has his first soccer game tonight (last week's was canceled because it was so wet) and I'm planning on going along to watch. If it was cold I wouldn't go, but I'm looking forward to spending time outside this evening. Anyway, I am off to continue proofreading my friend's novel, I want to spend this afternoon outside reading instead of in here on the computer, so I better get some of it done now! I hope you are all having fabulous day!!!

  1. The lemons I buy are bigger than peaches:) I know most of the lemons in the grocery store are smaller though. Glad you had such a good appointment.

  2. 14 weeks means you're in the 2nd trimester right? This is suppose to be the honeymoon phase - where everything is nice. I don't know how true that is, but that's what I've heard. Most lemons are smaller than peaches for me now, although the ones we had in Florida were huge!

  3. I'm the first vote! I voted GIRL!!! And yay for new clothes! Most of my tops are maternity tops that I wore even when I wasn't pregnant but I probably need more pants and tops anyway.

My maternity jeans are a size Large and they're too big on me but I know they'll fit later. Mediums won't fit me at all. I'm in this weird in-between size.

  4. I'm so happy that things are going really well and that you are enjoying this beautiful experience....I can't beleive your 14 weeks already, it seems like it was only a couple of weeks ago that you said you were pregnant! Always thought lemons were bigger than peaches, maybe they just are around here!

PS: I always thought the best bit of pregnacy was when you feel the baby moving, not kicking your insides black and blue but doing all the summer salts etc.... You miss that when the baby is born...
