19 Weeks

And it's off to a beautiful start! Last night Matt and I went to BRU and asked about the bedding we like - Lil Di.no by Lam.bs and I.vy. They called the store in Concord and it turns out they had their floor model display left. We had them hold it. Today I went to pick it up with my mom and sister and it turns out that they had found a brand new set - the last one left. So I didn't have to get the floor model, I was able to get it brand new and at a discounted price. Can't beat that!!! I'm so so so happy to have it because it's our favorite. And that's our first major baby purchase. :-)

After going to BRU my mom, sister, and I went to Conc.ord Mi.lls - a huge mall that has a lot of outlet stores. I bought myself some shoes for $15, a pair of khaki maternity capris for $20, and then discovered the Carter's outlet store. Woot!! They were having a major sale so my mom and I bought a few outfits. When we checked out we discovered the were half what we thought they were going to be on sale. I ended up spending $3 for 2 onesies. I wanted to go back and buy some more stuff, but Melissa was very impatient and so I left. But now I'm kicking myself, wishing I had bought some more clothes and other things. I bought a 9 month and 12 month outfit and my mom bought a newborn onesie. I know that I'll receive clothes at my shower, but I think it's good to buy in advance, especially the bigger sizes. Most of the showers I've been to the mother has received a lot of newborn and 3 mo clothes.

I also found out that the same co-worker of Matt's that is going to give us a swing is also going to give us a glider! He also offered to give us their changing table, but I don't think we'll need that since we're planning on buying a dresser that can double as a changing table. That will save room. At BRU I saw THIS crib that was my second choice...and it has become my first choice. It was beautiful in person and very well made. I'm thinking we'll pay the extra and get that, especially since we're saving on the glider and swing. We're also planning on buying a used stroller. I'm wondering what your opinion on getting a used pack n' play is. That's what we were planning on doing, we weren't even going to register for one. However, the Bab.y Bar.gains book recommends buying it new since there is a danger in used ones just like with cribs. We're planning on using the PnP as a bassinet in our bedroom for the first couple of months when I have to feed more often during the night. I started thinking...it's true my baby will be spending a lot of time in it...maybe I should buy a new one and feel assured he's safe.

Well, Evan is the size of a mango. I have a mango sitting on my counter...that I bought a week and a half ago...it's shriveled and probably rotten (I keep forgetting to toss it since it's sitting in the corner, lol). I hope he doesn't look like that one. ;-) I haven't felt any more movements. I wore my maternity jeans for the first time last week and have been wearing them every time I go out since! They are so comfortable. Technically my regular jeans can still fit with the belly band, but these are much more comfortable. I'm still using the belly band with a pair of my regular khaki pants that are baggier.

Tonight I'm going to Matt's soccer game. He is on a team with his best friend R and R's girlfriend is in town (she's from Louisiana so we don't see her all that much). She's going to watch so I'm going with to hang out with her. They are also coming over for dinner tomorrow night (ahh I have to clean the house!!) and then on Saturday night we're having friends over too. I really don't like hosting dinners and having people over (unless it's just the guys). I hate having to entertain, I'm always uncomfortable and wonder if they are having a good time or enjoying the meal, etc. However, it is worth it to keep in touch with people. I usually make Matt do a lot of the cooking when we have people over for meals. I don't like cooking in front of people. Isn't that weird? It shouldn't make a difference, but I don't like it when people watch how I do things. R's girlfriend will probably bring some food (she always makes amazing Cajun dishes) so that helps too. So anyway, looking forward to that at the same time I'm not looking forward to it. ;-) I promise, I'm going to stop blabbing now! I'm hyper...can you tell?

  1. It's great that you got the bedding set that you wanted. I think it is so adorable and Evan will love sleeping all snuggled under something so cute:)

I sometimes wait until there is only store models left to get some bigger toys and stuff because you get them at such discounted prices, lol.

We call pack and plays portacots here, lol. We had one for Will because although we didn't travel, I wanted to have something I could move around easier. We had a 2 story house and I had his pack and play downstairs so that he could lay in it when he was awake while I was doing housework and stuff. It was also smaller and much easier to fit into our bedroom. Plus he looked to little in his crib and the pack and play looked more cozy, lol. Personally I would get a new one (that's what we did) They aren't really expensive and in my opinion they are an investment:)

I am not really into entertaining either. I have no idea what to do or say when people are at my house. I'm also worried that they are checking out my housework skills and judging me on them, lol.

It's so much fun buying the baby clothes and maternity clothes isn't it? I don't know about you, but I was checking my tummy every day to see if it had gotten bigger. Also I'd sit there and try so hard to feel the movements, I'd even try and talk Will into kicking me, lol

  3. I really like the crib set you picked out and I'm so glad you found the bedding you wanted:) Have you thought about a bassinet instead of the PnP. I have a bassinet and I LOVE it! It is perfect to use for the first few months. I used it with Buddy until he was a couple months old and I plan on doing the same with his brubby. PnP's are nice if you will be traveling with the baby though. Also a lot of them come with a portable changing table so that is nice too. Anyways... Bassinet's are usually cheaper than PnP's too. I got my stroller used on Craigslist and I LOVE it. I like it better than the ones I have bought new.

  4. CUTE bedding set! What color are you going to paint the nursery? A pale, pale powder blue would look beautiful!

  5. Fabulous you got the bedding you love! It is very cute indeed. I saw that crib at BRU when we were shopping and it is really pretty. Worth the extra money for sure, I'd say.
I'd be lost without our PnP. We registered for it and 2 people went in to buy it for us together for my shower gift. Worth every penny, I'd say. She naps in it all day and sleeps there at night, right next to my bed. And the one we got has the changing table attached and makes life SO EASY. I don't even have to turn on the light at night to get her up, changed and fed, all while trying to keep her good and sleepy so she'll go right back down afterwards. And yes, you should ALWAYS buy new cribs, bassinets, cradles, etc. Standards have changed SO MUCH over the years and with all the tiny pieces that come with those things, you want to make sure you have it all in perfect working order.

  6. I love the bedding set! I'm glad you were able to get a new one. I also love the crib you picked out! I agree with Joy, a pale blue would look beautiful in the baby's room! I can't wait to see the finished product!

  7. That Amy Coe crib you were thinking about buying?! I just saw it at Babies R Us today (didn't realize it was the same one in that you put up on your blog) and I ALMOST bought it! It's so stinking sturdy. I ended up deciding that I'd get a less expensive crib but if you have the money I say get that one!
