Cradle Cap

Evan has it. Not surprising since I read that 1 in 2 newborns gets it. I read that it helps to rub olive oil on it, wipe it with a cloth, and then shampoo it. But how often? And have any of you tried something else that helped? It isn't terribly bad, but I would like to know if there's a way to get rid of it or at least reduce it.

  1. Buddy had it BAD! My doc said his was the worst she'd seen. I tried EVERYTHING and I just had to ride it out. I did the olive oil thing and used his baby brush to rub it in. I did it a couple times a week with him. Hopefully it works for you. My other two didn't get it at all. I think Buddy made up for that with his. lol It doesn't sound like Evan's is as bad as Buddy's was so maybe it will work:)

  2. He's so cute though! We don't have that-just baby acne here so I'm no help!

  3. Don't wash his hair with shampoo- it can dry it out more, causing more cradle c[R]ap.

But using oil and a gentle baby brush once a day until it clears up should help! I remember Elaina had a very mild case but I don't exactly remember what I did for it.

  4. L has an little bit just at the front of her head. Our pediatrician recommended placing a warm washcloth with baby oil on it for several minutes every other day and use a TINY (SO SMALL) amount of regular dandruff shampoo. I just bought the off brand of head and shoulders from Walmart. It seems to be working!
